Credentials:

• ES Drafting & Design, LLC was founded by me, Eric Smaridge, in 2003 and I currently work out of my home office in Anne Arundel County, Maryland.

• Honor graduate of the architectural program at Burr D. Coe Vocational and Technical Training Center in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

• Associates of Applied Sciences Degree with honors majoring in Architecture from Anne Arundel Community College, Arnold, Maryland.

• Retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air National Guard with experience as a Military Police and Correctional NCO in the U.S. Army and Security Forces Supervisor in the Air Force.

Although I have extensive experience in architectural drafting and design, I am not a licensed architect. But, by current building code, I am allowed to design, draw, and obtain building permits on behalf of my clients for most residential building projects. If the project does require a certified review or stamp by the approving authority, I am able to use one of my many contacts in the industry to get that done too.

Services Provided:

ES Drafting & Design, LLC has completed over 200 various projects the last few years from a simple 12'x12' Outdoor Gazebo to new custom waterfront homes over 8,000 square feet in size. Drawings have been as simple as a single page for a Site plan used for various reasons by other offices to larger sets of drawings with lots of details needed to express the design intent. Although the majority of the work has been done here in the Anne Arundel County Maryland area, projects have been completed as far north as Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania as far south as Waynesboro, Virginia and everywhere in between.

The main goal here at ES Drafting & Design, LLC is to provide the highest quality construction documentation at an affordable cost to be able to acquire a building permit for construction. There are a few phases to this end as outlined below:

Pre-Design Phase:

During this phase we will review and consolidate owner supplied data, field measure and field verify existing conditions, photograph, and draft-up existing structures and adjacent sites as necessary to proceed with the design process. Meet with county officials to verify zoning and any issues that may occur during the building process.

Schematic Design and Development:

While developing the schematic designs I will meet with clients to discuss requirements in detail. I will prepare multiple concepts in basic form and illustrate as necessary to portray the design intent to include floor layout, type of construction and elevations. From the comments generated through the schematic designs I will refine and develop concepts until a final edition is agreed upon.

Construction Documents:

I will prepare a set of construction documents and guideline specifications which set forth the construction of the project to include: Floor Plans, Elevations, Building and/or Wall Section, Site Plan, Foundation and Framing Plans and Schedules. Drawings are basic and sufficient for permit application and obtaining estimates for construction. However, Owner/Contractor coordination is essential as not every detail or material is given.

Drawings are created on a personal computer using AutoCAD 2007 LT, Google Sketch-Up and other computer aided programs as necessary and are provided at a size that meets your needs.
